FAQs
What is NFC?
NFC stand for Near Field Communication. They are widely used in manufacturing and tech sectors to quickly read small amounts of data using a device such as a smart phone. It is similar the tap-to-pay on almost all smart phones available.
How much information can fit on a tag?
You are limited to approximately 450 characters, including spaces. This is more than enough room for some typical information. For example:
Rufus - I am deaf
Please call John Smith 555-555-1234
or Jane Smith 555-555-1235
Does the tag need batteries?
No. NFC tags are passive, meaning that they do not use any power to operate. They only hold preprogrammed information.
What is the lifespan of the NFC?
NFC tags will last over 10 years. As technology advances the lifespan will continue to lengthen.
Is my personal information secure?
The only place your personal data is stored is on the pet tag itself. When the tag is scanned the information will be shown on a webpage, but the information is taken from the tag not the website. The website is just a viewer and never stores any personal data and we never keep any of your data.
What is the pet tag made out of?
The tag itself is made from a very sturdy material, similar to plastic, called PLA. PLA stands for Polylactic Acid, a thermoplastic polymer derived from renewable resources such as corn starch, sugarcane, or sugar beet pulp.
What colours are available?
We have over 25 standard colours for the pet tags (which you can view here). While any colour can be used for the name on the front and the image on the back we have found that the best colours to use for these is Black or White. If you have any special colours you would like you can contact us.
Where is it made?
We are a proudly Canadian company that makes all the tags in Canada. Ninety-five percent of the PLA used to make the pet tag is also manufactured in Canada and is FDA food-grade certified.
